Brief Itinerary

Day 1 Rendezvous at Hotel
Complimentary transfer from Santander airport to our hotel in the mountain village of Espinama (D)
Day 2 Walk to The Mountain Hotel
Leaving the village we ascend through old attractive forest with tantalising views of our objective, Pico Valdecoro. Leaving the forest through small shepherd’s settlements and high pastures we climb steeply up a stream valley to finally arrive at the rocky summit of Valdecoro with spectacular 360 views of the area. Traverse to our superbly situated Mountain Hotel. (B,L,D,)
Day 3 To El Naranjo
Todays walk traverses beneath and through the spectacular rock walls of the central massif via Horcados Rocas and our summit Torre Horcadas Rocas, 2507 metres; an un-rivalled viewpoint. We descend to our refugio beneath the impressive West face of El Naranjo, one of Spain’s most iconic sights. (B,L,D,)
Day 4 Descend to Poncebos
Today’s route meanders down through ever changing scenery passing through the tiny village of Bulnes before heading down through a rocky gorge leading to our hotel at the start of the Garganta del Cares close by an old roman bridge where there is a gorgeous natural swimming pool. (B,L,D,)
Day 5 Traverse the Cares
One of Spain’s finest walk through traverses throughoutrageous rock scenery to the tiny, beautiful village of Cain situated amidst dizzying peaks and greenery.
Day 6 To Refugio Jermosa
Ascending through seemingly impenetrable rock walls we arrive in a lovely old forest before climbing to the Vega de Asotin; a good place to rest before our steep ascent through remarkable rock scenery, surrounded by endless peaks. Our destination, the remote and newly renovated Refugio Jermosa, a truly astonishing place to spend our last night in the high mountains. (B,L,D)
Day 7 Pico Padierna and Espinama
A final traverse to climb Pico Padierna one of the ranges finest viewpoints, before meandering down limestone pavements and along little mountain paths before a final dizzying descent by cable car to Fuente De close to our hotel in Espinama where we will enjoy a celebratory dinner. (B,L,D)
*Day 8 Visit Potes and transfer to Santander airport
A leisurely breakfast, a visit to the ancient market town of Potes, a picnic lunch and afternoon transfer to Santander airport. (B,L)
